SOMATHEERAM AYURVEDA ACADEMY offers several courses and training programs which focuses on various realms of Ayurvedic Treatment. The joy in spreading the richness of Ayurveda is what this Academy aims at. Somatheeram Academy has been successful in teaching large number of students every year in different programs of Ayurveda. The Academy is located at Somatheeram Ayurveda Resort, Chowara Beach, South of Kovalam, Kerala. It is led by retired Director from Government Ayurveda College. The faculty includes renowned and experienced Doctors who have dedicated themselves to the ancient science of Ayurveda.
Eligibility: The courses are available to all, with keen interest in learning the natural therapy. Limited seats are offered in order to maintain quality and attention given to each student.

Certification: Certificates are issued from Somatheeram Ayurveda Academy at the end of the course. The Academy is affiliated to Bharat Sevak Samaj or BSS – A National Development Agency that directs regulations for Ayurveda Therapy

“ Ayurveda Basic Massage (10 days)”
SThis course is of short duration and focuses on teaching the basic principles of Ayurveda. You are taught to identify the body types, based on an individual constitutions or ‘Prakruti’ of the three doshas or life forces - vata, pitta and kapha. This is followed by classes on few Ayurvedic massages.
“ Basic Panchakarma Therapy (14 Days):”
This is an informative course which explains in-depth, the concepts in Ayurveda, Panchakarma, Massages, Treatment Procedures, Marma Points, Pulse Diagnosis, etc. The course includes both theory and practical sessions.
This course enables the students to learn the traditional Panchakarma philosophy and methodology of purification of mind and body system. One can practice and also teach others the Ayurvedic process of detoxification through this course. The ‘Pancha Karma’ or ‘Five Procedures’ are taught during the course, namely Vamana (Vomiting Therapy), Virechana (Purgation Therapy), Basti (Enema Therapy), Nasya (Nasal Administration) and Raktamokshana (Blood Purification Therapy).
A course on Intensive message theory starts with the basic principles of Ayurveda and identification of body types, , based on an individual’s constitutions or ‘Prakruti’ of the three doshas or life forces - vata, pitta and kapha. This advances into intensive Ayurvedic massaging procedures used to tone, relax and relieve pain from the body. The study enables you to practice it better and incorporate in daily lives.
This course pivots around the 107 Marma, the Sanskrit word for the vital and energy points of our bodies. Marma Massage Therapy is an ancient method of healing based on manipulation of Marma points to balance the tri-doshas (life forces). Theoretical and practical sessions are included for detailed study. Today the Marma Massage therapy has been globally acclaimed for its beneficial qualities.
During this course you are taught one of the most relaxing massage therapies which is ‘Champi’ or Head Massage. Head massage involves massaging of scalp, hair, neck, shoulders and arms using herbal oils. It is a common massage treatments and one needs to learn the techniques and concepts of this therapy. Head massages are known to improve blood circulation, relax muscles and compose body and mind by eliminating toxins. Head massages also initiate hair growth and strengthening.
Facial massage is considered as a beauty therapy which helps in toning of skin and arresting wrinkles. This short course focuses on balance of ‘doshas’ or ‘life forces’ in facial skin. It is a great course for beauty professionals who can enhance their talents, as well as use it as a personal care routine. You will be taught about the facial Marma points and usage of natural products on face.
This course comprises of herbal care and Ayurvedic methods of Beauty Care. It is a combination of head and facial massage for toning and better health of skin. You will learn the use of herbal ingredients to prepare facial masks and skin products, instead of the usage of chemicals. This helps in dealing with skin, hair, or any beauty related issues.
Foot massage therapy is the application of Marma (energy points) Therapy, using feet. Feet provide an even and deeper pressure on the body of the recipient, compared to massaging with hands. You will be taught to balance your body and use body weight to treat the recipient. This traditional Art of Foot Ayurvedic Massage is known to revitalize the body, increase flexibility and maintain good health.
This course teaches the techniques of massaging neck, shoulder and arms which is known to reduce stress, exhaustion, anxiety, panic attacks and pressure in the body. It helps in curing morning stiffness of shoulders and joint pains.
